My Hidden Track (2006-2009)

Posted by Chad Forbregd3 Comments »

We have come to an extremely difficult decision. It has come time for us to move on from My Hidden Track and pursue other endeavors. After three years, this decision was not an easy one. We have recorded, played shows and promoted nonstop all while trying to balance relationships, friends, family, work, etc. and we don’t regret a single second of it. Despite what you may hear, no one was kicked out of My Hidden Track, nor has any action been taken out of malicious intent. Several weeks ago, the band sat down to talk and Chandler decided to leave the band so that he could concentrate on personal affairs. The remaining members of My Hidden Track (Chad, Nick and Pat) supported Chandler’s decision wholeheartedly and agreed that he was not in a position where the band could be one of his priorities. While it is not our place to air Chandler’s personal business, it is within our right to let you know that we did not reach this decision for him. Also it is to be noted that there is not one single contributing factor leading up to this decision, but rather many. We continue to respect Chandler and we hope he is able to better his personal situations as a result of this separation. After considering continuing on under the My Hidden Track name, we have decided that out of the respect of our accomplishments of “Hey Love” that there is no better way to end My Hidden Track’s three-year career. To all the fans that have loved and supported us, to all the bands that we have played with, to all the previous members of the band and to all the people who have talked to us, listened to us, or tried out to play with us, we thank you. We want to offer our profound thanks and gratitude; without you we never would have been able to do it. My Hidden Track fans truly are the best in the world. The three of us (Chad, Nick and Pat) will be carrying on playing music under a different name. We hope that all of you consider checking us out and at the very least give us an opportunity to share with you something we love, something that is honest, pure and straight from our heart. We apologize that we are not able to offer you a proper goodbye, but we want to thank you for your love, support and understanding.

From the bottom of hearts, thank you for all of your love and support,

My Hidden Track

Also, we are currently holding one final merch sale so that everyone can get a copy of “Hey Love” for cheap. We have a slew of debt from MHT that we need to climb out from behind. Admittedly, we need your help. Shortly after the last tour, the transmission went out in our van as well as the front and back brakes need replaced before it can be driven again. We are doing our best to save up to fix the van, but it has become overwhelming when balancing the monthly loan payment, insurance payment and the cost of our practice unit. We are not asking for donations or trying to guilt anyone into helping us out. We do, however, encourage you that if you have ever wanted a My Hidden Track CD or t-shirt to get one now before the store closes forever. All items are $5.00 plus shipping and each order will come extra little goodies, which could include anything from buttons and stickers to autographed CDs or an extra t-shirt. Quite literary we mean it when we say that everything must go. Again, thank you.

Absolute Punk Reviews Us Again!

My Hidden Track – Hey Love
Record Label: Dare To Dream Records
Release Date: June 5, 2009

Who?
An upstart, pop-punk band hailing from Indiana. Hey Love is the first EP from My Hidden Track’s new line-up: Chandler Lehr (guitar/vocals), Nick Coffing (guitar/vocals), Chad Forbredg (bass), and Patrick Rud (drums).

How is it?
Decent. Average. Possibly a sign of good things to come from this Indiana quintet. Sporting the over-done dual vocals, MHT pound through eight, respectable pop-punk jams, leaving the listener dreaming of what could be a future stand-out in the Scene.

Hey Love starts out with a slow intro entitled “I Hope to God You Are” before bursting into the in-your-face “I Can’t Believe I Gave My Panties to a Geek.” Belting out such lines as “Cause you’re just a bitch / And you don’t mean shit,” “Panties” is definitely a standout on Hey Love and it really showcases the honest-to-god lyrics that Nick Thomas (The Spill Canvas) would be proud of. Layered guitar work laces this and every other track on the EP. Along with “Panties” the other stand out tracks are “I Gave Her My Heart, She Gave Me A Pen” (my personal favorite) and “Son of a Bitch, He Stole My Line.” All three of these songs use great pop hooks coupled with gang-vocals and on-point guitar work.

Where Hey Love falters is in the production value. Too often, the songs blend together, forcing the listener to replay the EP several times just to realize that there are eight songs. The last two songs, “Chances” and “Not Blaming California,” are great examples of this blending. In addition, the lyrical content is sure to please high school kids, but other than that segment of the population, the lyrics are forgettable and mediocre. MHT would have been better off only having four or five tracks on this EP, for songs such as “February 17″ and “And I Said I Didn’t Think Anyone Was Ever Old Enough” have little lasting value. All in all, though, My Hidden Track have shown much potential with Hey Love and are sure to please the Warped Tour crowds for a while.
